What Is The Best Web Hosting For Small Business?

by Brionix

I have dozens of websites hosted on over 5 different web hosting companies, and I’ve discovered that they are not all the same. I learned this the hard way.

The first company I used was Pair.com. They are OK, but they are more for techy types, and their system is not easy to use. Plus they don’t have the features I need to build my business and my clients websites.

Once Upon A Time…

I once had a website hand coded by a programmer in Canada. It cost me a small fortune. And with his advice I hosted this website with Startlogic.com. Within a span of 4 months I built 4 more websites and hosted on the same account.

These were regular hand coded websites. Most of them were min sites, and they loaded just fine (loaded means that the site came up fast on your browser).

Then, I learned how easy WordPress is to install using their ‘easy install system’. And I used it for my next seven websites because I could build the whole site myself without coding, using WordPress…

slow website hosting companyAfter over two years of hosting with them, I noticed how slow my WordPress sites were loading. It took as long as 30 seconds to load a site!

I thought that it was normal because I had several plugins, and I thought maybe I needed to have a programmer optimize the databases on each WordPress site.

I even contacted support and they tried to tell me it was my data bases, and that my images may be too large or I have too many of them. They said it was not their servers that were the problem. I believed them.

In the meantime, I opened a new account with Hostgator.com because they had an unbelievable price on hosting and someone I respect recommended them to me. I could host as many domains on one account as I wanted (just like Startlogic).

But the main feature I needed was an easy install of Worpdress.

I set up one WordPress site, and uploaded over 50 pages over a month or two. Plus I had all the plugins installed and activated, and I had dozens of pictures. Some were large. This site was bigger in terms of image files, plugins, and pages than any of the WordPress sites I have hosted on Startlogic.

Guess What! The pages loaded super fast, like 3 seconds versus my sites which hosted on Startlogic (they were loading at 25 – 30 seconds).

Needless to say, I am sticking with Hostgator. They are low cost, their support is very good, they have all the features I need including easy installation of WordPress.

I have also tried Bluehost and 1and1 webhosting. They do not have easy installation of WordPress to the main directory (don’t worry if you don’t understand this).

I also have several sites hosted with Site Build It, but they are not just a webhosting company, they are an Ecommerce website company. I can tell you about them if you are interested. I really like their business model and ease of use. And yes, the sites load fast.
